Content of job information
A postdoctoral position is available in the Suzuki Laboratory at the Dental College of Georgia, Augusta University. Fluoride is effective caries prophylactic, but chronic fluoride over-exposure can result in dental and skeletal fluorosis. The Suzuki lab focuses on understanding the mechanism of how fluoride induces cell stress during tooth development, and how cells respond to fluoride toxicity. Our ultimate goal is to develop novel strategies that prevent or reduce fluorosis. Recently we found that SIRT1 is involved in dental fluorosis as an adaptive response to protect. However, the SIRT1 function in fluorosis remains to be elucidated. The Suzuki lab investigates epigenetic and non-epigenetic SIRT1 functions in fluoride-induced cell stress in vitro and in vivo.
