Position Description:
A postdoctoral fellow position in pancreatic cancer biology is available at the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, University of California, Davis. Our research interest is to study genetic and epigenetic alterations in pancreatic cancer progression using genetically engineered mouse models and patient-derived organoid models and exploit therapeutic vulnerabilities for pancreatic cancer. The position provides outstanding opportunities for building research career with recently developed organoid models in the interface of basic and translational pancreatic cancer research in close collaboration with UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Outstanding individuals skilled in molecular biology, cell biology, mouse genetics, cancer (epi)genetics and/or next generation sequencing (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq) with bioinformatic analysis are encouraged to apply for a postdoctoral position in a dynamic interdisciplinary team studying pancreatic cancer.
Basic Qualifications:
The applicant must have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, cancer biology, or related field, and must have proven productivity as a first author. In addition, the applicant should be proficient in tissue culture, mouse genetics and basic molecular biology techniques. It is preferable that the successful applicant has experience with either 1) cancer biology with mouse and tissue culture models , or 2) genomics approach (next generation sequencing and basic analysis). Finally, the applicant should be well versed in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and a graphing program such as Prism or R. The applicant must be attentive and reliable with various modes of communication and must have the motivation to pursue and drive a project independently.
