Drexel University College of Medicine Postdoctoral Position
A postdoctoral research associate position is available immediately for projects funded by AHA and the Neilsen Foundation in G protein signaling and cardiovascular physiology in the laboratory of Dr. Patrick Osei-Owusu, in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. U.S.A
Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and expertise in one or more of the following: animal models of CV diseases, vascular or renal physiology, molecular biology with experience in cell/tissue culture, mouse genetics studies (genotyping, RNA sequencing etc.), and/or electrophysiological techniques. The applicant should be independent and self-motivated, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The successful applicant will work on studies aim at unraveling the pathological mechanisms of high vascular tone and blood pressure disorders associated with pregnancy complications and spinal cord injury. The project employs a combination of advanced and state-of-the-art techniques in integrated physiology, including mouse genetics, the development of lentiviral constructs for gene expression in primary cells, small animal echocardiography and Doppler ultrasound imaging, ex vivo vessel studies, calcium imaging, renal hemodynamics and blood pressure studies in rodent disease models using radiotelemetry, and signal transduction assays in primary and cultured cells.
