Epigenetic Targeting Therapy および小児脳腫瘍のTranslational Researchに興味のあるポストドクトラルフェロー募集(米国ノースウエスタン大学)
The laboratory of Rintaro Hashizume at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago (http://labs.feinberg.northwestern.edu/hashizume/).
The research interest of our laboratory lies in identifying new effective therapies to improve the outcome of children with brain tumors. Our laboratory studies to understand the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that promote cancer development and progression, and would accordingly reveal potential therapeutic targets. We utilize animal model systems that faithfully recapitulate the biology and genetics of human brain tumors. Animal model systems enhance to test new genetic/epigenetic therapeutic agents being considered for clinical trials and new therapeutic approaches bypassing the blood-brain barrier, such as convection enhanced delivery and intranasal delivery. Our current projects focus on epigenetic targeting therapy for the treatment of pediatric brain cancer. Specifically, it is our current intention to investigate the role of K27M H3F3A mutation on histone methylation and gene expression in brainstem gliomas. Our laboratory is well funded from internal and exter!
nal grant awards including The American Cancer Society, Rally and Bear Nescessities Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, The John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.

We are seeking a qualified postdoctoral fellow with an interest in chromatin biology, genetic and epigenetic mechanism of cancer, and translational research for preclinical therapeutics in brain tumor animal models. The fellow will design and perform experiments using a variety of model systems (mouse, rats, tissue culture) and techniques (molecular, biochemistry, epigenetics, genetic, histology, and genomics). An MD and/or PhD in a science-related field, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work interactively are required.
Postdoctoral fellow in the lab involves close interactions both within the lab and with collaborating groups at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Postdoctoral training includes participation and presents his/her research in the department seminars and international conferences. A major goal of our lab is to mentor and train fellows for future careers in academics and industry. To apply, please email a statement about your interest in our lab, your career goals, objectives, and a CV that includes three references to Dr. Hashizume (Rintaro.hashizume@northwestern.edu).
