Virginia Tech Postdoc Position
A postdoctoral associate position is available in the Kojima lab at Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, VA) to study the circadian regulation of RNA metabolism in mammals. Our primary goal is to understand how transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms work in concert to give rise to circadian protein expression that ultimately drive a wide range of rhythmic biochemistry, physiology, and behavior. The successful candidate will elucidate the complex contribution of poly(A) tail to regulating and fine-tuning circadian gene expression using multiple-disciplinary approaches including but not limited to transcriptome, cellular and biochemical, real-time imaging studies. The position is for one-year with annual contract renewal pending performance. Open immediately, start date negotiable.
Required Qualifications:
•PhD in biological sciences or related discipline with strong background in molecular and cellular biology
•A good publication record in peer-reviewed journals
•Highly motivated and eager to develop and pursue a novel research program
•Excellent communication skills
•Ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment
Preferred Qualifications:
•Creative, independent, and energetic
•Experience with RNA techniques, mouse experiments, bioinformatics, neuronal culture, real-time microscope imaging
