Research position available

I am seeking candidates for a position in my laboratory at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard School of Public Health, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Harvard Medical School, in Boston, MA, USA. A position may be a postdoctoral fellow, technician or research assistant (either full-time or part-time), and whoever fits to this position may start soon or in the future. My laboratory is The "Molecular Pathological Epidemiology" (MPE) Laboratory, which is a very unique, interdisciplinary multi-institutional laboratory. MPE is the emerging scientific field which I recently established as a distinct field (Ogino et al. J Natl Cancer Inst 2010; Ogino et al. Gut 2011; Ogino et al. Nat Rev Clin Oncol 2011; Field et al. JAMA 2013; etc). We have been working on colorectal cancer, colorectal adenoma and polyp, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, and gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors. ポスドクでしたらPathology (特にdiagnostic pathology)あるいはEpidemiologyあるいはBiostatisticsあるいはBioinformaticsあるいはComputational BiologyあるいはMolecular Biologyあるいは臨床医学のBackgroundが望ましいです。

ラボでの仕事はいろいろありますが、パラフィン癌組織サンプルの管理とプロセシング、データーベースの管理、免疫組織染色、病理組織解析、DNA・RNA解析、Image Analysis、統計解析、あるいはプログラミングです。もちろんすべての手技をできる人はいませんので、得意な分野・経験を生かしていただきます。

プロジェクトは大腸癌、線腫、膵臓癌、胃癌、消化器内分泌腫瘍のMolecular Pathological Epidemiology (MPE)です。MPEは私が提唱した学問分野で、その名が示すとおり、分子病理学と疫学の統合という今までにない新しい学問分野です（S Ogino et al. JNCI 2010; S Ogino et al. Gut 2011; S Ogino et al. Nat Rev Clin Oncol 2011; A Field et al. JAMA 2013; etc)。私のラボでは大規模な前向き疫学コホートを使って大腸癌と膵臓癌の様々な分子異常の疫学的病因を研究しています。ハーバード大学公衆衛生大学院とBrigham and Women’s Hospitalではこれまで当初は健康な12万人の女性を34年（Nurses' Health Study、http://www.channing.harvard.edu/nhs/）、5万人の男性を24年（Health Professionals Follow-up Study、http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/hpfs/）追跡して、病気の発生を疫学的に研究してきました。我々のMPE　Researchの強みは最近のさまざまな論文で示されています（R Nishihara et al. 当研究室では、micro RNAに代表される小分子RNAの生合成機構と機能に関する研究を行っています。特に、近年生殖細胞系列で見いだされたpiRNAにおいて、その生合成機構と分子機能を解明することを目指しています。更に種々のがん細胞および患者組織において、新規小分子RNA種の網羅的同定および機能解析の系を立ち上げており、RNA Biology研究にとって非常に恵まれたTJUの研究環境において、新規研究分野を共に切り開いてくれる研究意欲、熱意の高い方のご応募をお待ちしています。

■CPPとは？
博士号を取得した若い人が将来アカデミアで仕事に就ける割合が2割を切る時代になりました。そのために博士号取得者の人生設計は、従来のモデルに頼った方法では難しくなってきています。
　このCPPは年間を通してグローバルに開催されるキャリアフェアです。世界中に散らばる日本人研究者、日本に就職したい研究者の方々のキャリアを支援するために活動しています。
　このプログラムに参加すると、大学院生、ポスドクなどの研究者の方々は、単にプログラム内で開催されるジョブフェアで仕事探しができるだけではなく、日頃忙しくてしているために疎かにしがちな自分自身のキャリアデザインに対して、どのように考えたらよいのか、そしてこれから何をしたらよいのかを把握することができます。
　2005年からスタートしたこのプログラムはこれまで1,000人以上が参加し、プログラム内で開催されるジョブフェアでは200人近い研究者が日本の民間企業に就職を決めており、また様々なフィールドへと社会進出していく研究者も少なくありません。
　一人でも多くの大学院生、ポスドクをはじめとする研究者の方々がCPPに参加して、次の時代を生きる研究者としてさらに大きく活躍してほしいと願っています。

The Anandasabapathy Laboratory has an opening for a post-doctoral fellowship position to investigate the role of immune cells in mediating vaccine responses and cancer therapy. This individual will become part of an enthusiastic team approach to study and analyze human and mouse dendritic cells both functionally and phenotypically- examining how they may be used to increase the presentation of antigens. Candidates with knowledge of immunology, T cell, or dendritic cell biology in the context of cancer and inflammation are preferred. A strong background in the performance of pBMC isolation and enrichment, ELISA, flow cytometry (analysis and sorting), immunohistochemistry, T cell-APC co-culture, RNA isolation, and transcriptomics is required. Necessary qualifications include an M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degree and excellent communication/written skills.

Research Associate Grade 6
Sahara Lab - MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology, London, UK

A BBSRC funded Postdoctoral position is available starting from 2014 in the lab of Dr Sahara at the MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology, King’s Collage London, UK
(http://www.kcl.ac.uk/biohealth/research/divisions/devneuro/Research/groups/sahara.aspx).

The project focuses the molecular control of self-renewal and neurogenic characteristics of cortical progenitors.
We will address this question by employing various techniques including ES cell based neural differentiation, mouse genetics and developmental biology. Applicants with a recent PhD or MD/PhD should have a high motivation, good communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team. Preference will be given to candidates with experiences in mouse/human ES cell manipulation and/or analysis of mouse cortical development with imaging techniques and in utero manipulation. Candidates with strong background in other fields and model systems (eg. molecular/cellular biology, electrophysiology/imaging, stem cell behaviors in other organs) who are interested in understanding cortical/neural development are also very welcome to apply.

Start date of the position will be Spring 2014 but negotiable. The post is full-time, fixed term contract for 3 years.
