A position for Postdoctoral fellow

The research of my lab focuses on the epigenetic mechanism involving histone demethylase in development and cancers. We have recently identified a novel histone demethylases, PHF8, acting on H4K20me1and H3K9me1 (Qi HH et al., Nature, 2010). PHF8 demethylates these two histone marks at TSS (transcription starting sites) and positively regulates about 2-3% of its large set of direct target genes. To address the question about the specificity in transcriptional regulation, we are investigating if and how PHF8 co-ordinates with specific transcription factors and signaling pathways, which play a similar role as PHF8 in craniofacial and neural development. In addition, we are also interested in the epigenetic regulation of non-coding RNAs and the role of histone demethylase in local genome stability. Highly motivated individuals are always welcome.
