CHEMICAL BIOLOGY OF CARDIAC REPAIR
Seeking post-doctoral research fellows
The Schneider Lab at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is seeking post-doctoral research fellows interested in chemical biology approaches to heart repair. This laboratory is a member of the American Heart Association-Jon Holden DeHaan Cardiac Myogenesis Research Center and the NIH/NHLBI Progenitor Cell Biology Consortium and is also funded by Lone Star Heart, a Texas-based company focused on novel heart repair therapeutics. Work in this laboratory is closely allied with the Olson and Hill labs at UT Southwestern.
The project will involve evaluating novel progenitor-targeted small-molecules (stem cell-modulator small-molecules) for in vivo efficacy in mouse heart injury models, mechanistic studies of small-molecules and discovery of target proteins. The current focus is chemical regulation of epicardium in heart repair (see Russell et al. Circ. Res. 108: 51-59, 2011).
Expertise in small-animal cardiac injury models and knowledge or interest in organic and medicinal chemistry or drug development is highly desirable.
