私の在籍するテキサス大学サウスウエスタン医学センターDr. Robert Bachoo研究室(Neurology)にて、ポスドク研究員を募集いたします。メインテーマは、脳卒中・脳外傷・グリオーマなどのマウス中枢神経疾患モデルにおける成体神経新生(Adult neurogenesis)の解析です。サウスウエスタン医学センターはテキサス州ダラス市にあり、４人のノーベル賞受賞者に、１７人の全米科学アカデミー会員が在籍している研究環境・研究費ともに全米有数の研究機関です。ポスドク研究員はPostdoctoral Association を通して、Annual Research Symposium 、Grant writing training class などに参加することができます。 Dr. Robert Bachooは非常に温厚であり、自主性を尊重してくれるので、マイペースで実験を進めていくことが可能です。ご興味のある方は、まず私（真下朋之）まで日本語で問い合わせて下さい。

採用人数：１－２名
採用期間：２０１０年１２月までの着任を希望します(相談可)。１年ごとの審査に基づき、２－４年間の任期が可能です。

シンシナティ小児病院／シンシナティ大学医学部　生殖科学部門行川研究室（PI:行川　賢: Satoshi Namekawa）は２００９年の９月に開始した新しい研究室です。これまでに研究体制が順調に立ち上がったので、さらに１名の博士研究員（ポスドク）を募集しています。行川研究室では、マウスを用いて生殖細胞分化と初期胚におけるエピジェネティック制御の解明を目指しています。特に、性染色体の制御機構について着目しています。新しい研究室なので、柔軟な発想で画期的な研究の方向性を構築したいと考えています。創造的で意欲的な研究員を募集しています。そのため、これまでの研究領域は問いません。
シンシナティ小児病院の生殖科学部門はSK Dey教授により２年前に創設されました。新研究棟最上階に位置し、充実した研究環境で、Dey教授を始め他の研究室との交流や共同研究も盛んです。

A new postdoctoral position is available to participate in a NIH-funded research project investigating the molecular and cellular mechanisms of craniofacial development using mutant mouse models. Our laboratory has expertise in analysis of various aspects of mouse embryonic development, genetic mapping and positional cloning of mutant genes, and generation and analyses of transgenic/gene-knockout mice. Recent research in our lab has resulted in publications in Science, PNAS, Development, Developmental Biology, and other high-ranking journals. Postdoctoral Fellow: Molecular Genetics and Epigenetics of human Colon Cancer

A postdoctoral position is available for immediate recruitment for a highly motivated candidate to join a team of researchers at Baylor Research Institute and Sammons Cancer Center, Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, TX, USA. An ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. or a M.D. degree with a strong background in biochemistry and molecular biology, as demonstrated by their publication record. Previous training in molecular research on human cancers will be preferred.

The laboratory headed by Dr. C. Richard Boland, M.D. and Ajay Goel, Ph.D. focuses on understanding the molecular genetics and epigenetics of colon cancer. One of the main interests of the lab is on understanding how epigenetic mechanisms regulate the transition of a normal epithelial cell to a cancer cell. The successful applicant will engage in scientific research involving various ongoing projects including

a) Epigenetic modifications in colorectal cancer including DNA methylation, histone modifications and microRNAs

b) Role of a human polyomavirus JC virus in gastrointestinal cancers and

c) Chemoprevention in colorectal cancer by various dietary interventions.

国立シンガポール大学(National University of Singapore)メカノバイオロジー研究所(Mechanobiology Institute = MBI)

ポスドク・大学院生募集、及び、ワークショップのお知らせ

ライフサイエンスの新興国、シンガポールで国規模（ただし、広さは東京23区程度）の大型予算プログラム５つのうちの１つとして昨年採択されたメカノバイオロジー研究所が、いよいよ本格的に立ち上がり、ポスドク・大学院生を大募集しております。詳細はウェブサイト（プログラムの概要ははhttp://mbi.nus.edu.sg/ 、ポスドク募集はhttp://mbi.nus.edu.sg/job-opportunities/、さらに大学院生募集は、http://mbi.nus.edu.sg/education/)を参照してください。ウェブサイトには書かれていない情報は以下の通りです。

メカノバイオロジーとは
物理的な環境・刺激が、生物反応・機能・現象を制御するメカニズムの解明を目指しています。したがって、生物現象のきわめて基本的・根本的なところを研究対象としていることになります。

MBI全体として
10年間で1億５千万シンガポールドルですから約100億円のプログラムです（延長の可能性はあることになっていますが、ポスドクや大学院生の方にはプログラム延長はあまり関係ないでしょう）。コロンビア大学のMichael Sheetz教授がプログラムのディレクターです。研究対象はメカノバイオロジーであればOKです。「バイオロジーは何でもメカノ」と考えれば、広くバイオロジーを扱っていることになります。生物学ですから、人類の健康・福祉の増進に寄与することを目指していますが、生物学研究に携わっていない人にも目的・意義がすぐにわかるようなガチガチの臨床直結の実験を行っている人は少なくとも今は多数派ではありません。科学的野心に富み、誠実で、再現性のある実験・研究であれば、きちんと評価される雰囲気・環境です。

ポスドク
MBIのポスドクはMBIのPI(http://mbi.nus.edu.sg/our-team/principal-investigators/)の誰かのグループに属して研究を遂行します。が、MBIは完全にオープンラボの形態をとっているので、隣のベンチでは別のグループの人が実験しています。面倒臭いこともありますが、なるほどと感心することもたまにはあります（「何じゃ、こりゃ！」と頭にくることもありますが）。なお、給料は最近のアメリカのポスドクの標準よりは高いです。ただし、直属のPIによるところが大きいので、これはあくまでMBIとしての一般論です。

大学院生
修士課程はなく、（最初から）博士課程で4年なので、学部を卒業した年の8月にこちらの大学院に入学すれば（大学院入学は年1回8月のみ、出願は年末頃締め切り）、日本の修士過程と博士過程をあわせた5年よりは1年早くPhDが取得できます。学費はプログラムからサポートされますので、免除されているのと同じです。さらに、シンガポールで、学生として分相応な生活を送るには十分な額の奨学金が支給されます。大学院生といえど、お金を（支払うのではなく）もらって研究を行うのですから、多少のプロ意識は求められるかもしれません。ただし、日本の一部の大学院生のように生活のほとんどが研究室、という大学院生はこちらにはほぼいません。

シンガポールでの暮らし
治安はきわめて良く、安全です。麻薬使用などドラッグ関係の罪で逮捕されると死刑になることが少なくないなど、罪が重いことが関係していると思われます。が、善良な市民として生活を送っている限り、窮屈は感じません。北緯1度ですから、季節の変化はない、と思ってください。また、シンガポールにはどこを探しても田舎はありませんので、田舎で生活したい人には向きませんが、「たまには脱都会」でよいのなら、近隣のマレーシアなどに行けば息抜きになるでしょう。
シンガポールでの言葉は英語です。ただし現地人の英語は強い訛りがあります(シングリッシュ)。しかし、英語には違いないので英語のトレーニングになります。また、シンガポールもMBIも、インド人、中国人などが入り混ざり、それぞれの国の言葉が普通に飛び交っています。

Penn State University のDairy and Animal Science Department の Dr. Troy Ottの依頼で博士課程(Ph.D)の大学院生を募集いたします。

投稿者である私も彼の元でPh.Dを終了しました。Dr. Ottは、大変誠実で、面倒見の良いすばらしい先生で、私も大変尊敬しております。

Dr. Ottのラボは、主に妊娠初期の子宮内膜で発現するMxというタンパクの機能解析を行っており、また免疫学と関連した研究もおこなっております。研究の95％が、分子生物学的手法を用いた実験となり、ｍRNA、タンパク質の解析が主な作業となります。彼の研究室では、羊をモデルとしておりますが、実際は、羊子宮内膜細胞由来の細胞株（Cell Line)を使用しております。

Penn State University は、ペンシルバニア州の中央にあるState Collegeという場所に位置しており、ピッツバーグ、フィラデルフィアともに、車で3時間の場所にあります。また、ニューヨーク市までも、車で4時間程度で、都会へのアクセスも可能です。

応募条件は、理科系学部の修士課程保持者が最低条件となります。（学部卒のみでも論文投稿経験があり、研究年数の長い方も含めます）。生物免疫学がメインの研究室です。この分野での経験があるに越したことはありませんが、この分野に興味のあるかたであれば研究バックグラウンドは問いません。語学能力は、大学規定のTOEFLおよびGREをクリアしていただくことが最低条件となります。会話能力も高いのに越したことはありませんが、その点は、長い目で見てくれるそうです。実際、私もすぐ隣のラボに所属しており、Dr. Ottのラボとは、共同ミーティングも行っておりますので、かなりサポート可能です。

テンプル大学医学部心臓血管研究センター (Philadelphia, PA)

当研究室は細胞生物学、分子生物学、タンパク工学および遺伝子改変動物を主体とした手法を用いて心血管系の情報伝達と機能解析（atherosclerosis, cardiac and vascular hypertrophy, remodeling, cardiovascular inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, diabetic complication）を中心に現在、以下のテーマで研究を行っています(NIH-RO1 funded from NIH HLBI, Established Investigator Award funded from AHA)。

1. Angiotensin II (AT1, G12/13, Rho kinase)
2. ADAM metalloprotease (EGF ligands, EGF receptors, TNF-alpha)
3. Transcriptional repressors
4. Signal cross-talk between vascular/endothelial cytokines and adipokines
