Job Description:
Numerous genetic strategies have been used to identify common disease risk loci and genes, including candidate gene analyses, linkage analysis, transmission disequilibrium testing, and admixture mapping (also referred to as mapping by admixture linkage disequilibrium). We are looking for a candidate with MS or PhD in biostatistics, statistical genetics or bioinformatics, who will be involved in a combined applied/methodological genetics project. This project will focus on the development and implementation of ancestry (admixture) based detection and characterization of genetic factors in allergy disorders. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has some experience and/or training in the statistical methods used in genetic linkage and association studies. We are particularly keen to attract a candidate who has research interests and experience in any of the following research areas: LD mapping, imputation, population genetics inference, analysis of admixed popula!
tion data, genetic data simulation.
Minimum Requirements:
This position requires Doctorate or Masters' Degree in biostatistics, statistical genetics, bioinformatics or related field with basic genetics understanding.
Preferred Skills/Experience/Attributes:
• Minimum 1 year experience providing data analysis support to researchers in genomics
• Experience with large data sets and database, such as those used in GWAS and large cohort and public database mining studies
• Ability to communicate statistical concepts and data analysis interpretations to the group
• Excellent interpersonal skills and in team-oriented environments
• Proficiency in statistical programming environments such as SAS, R, or C++
• Experience in the area of human population and quantitative genetics
