A postdoctoral position is available immediately to study transcriptional regulation of estrogen receptor (ER) signaling pathways by nuclear receptor co-factors. At the cellular level, we are interested in understanding the molecular underpinnings of co-regulators’ action and biology in ER-involved processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation and cell cycle control. At the molecular level, we are exploring the molecular mechanisms whereby histone arginine methylation takes part in the epigenetic control of cancer cells (Recent publications: Kuhn, P. et al. Protein Science, (2009)18: 1272-1280; Powell E. and Xu, W. PNAS (2008), 105: 19012-19017; Higashimoto, K. et al., PNAS (2007) 104: 12318-12323). We recently found that CARM1, a histone arginine methyltransferase, could up-regulate ERα-mediated differentiation, suggesting that CARM1 is a unique activator for ER α and its enzymatic activity maybe therapeutic target in breast cancer (Mariam Al-Dhaheri et al., submitted to Cancer Research). Therefore, we will further study CARM1-mediated epigenetic changes using chromatin-immunoprecipitation coupled with sequencing (ChIP-seq) in cultured cancer cells and mice models. Candidate should have a Ph.D. or equivalent with a solid background in biochemistry and molecular biology. Familiarity with techniques in molecular biology, chromatin immunoprecipitation assay, and breast cancer mouse model is desirable. Candidate with his/her own funding is preferable but not mandatory. Applications are invited for 2-3 postdoctoral positions at the Laboratory of Angiogenesis Research, MTC, Karolinska Institutet. The angiogenesis research group is one of the leading research team at the international front to do cutting-edge angiogenesis research work in the area of cancer, obesity/diabetes, ocular disease and cardiovascular disease. The team is focused on translational research work with emphasis of clinical relevance. MTC is one of the biggest departments at the Karolinska Institutet and it provides the state-of-the-art core facility for biological research at various levels ranging from molecular to in vivo disease models.

2-3 postdoc positions are now open for highly motivated scientists with background in molecular biology, cell biology, animal disease models and metabolic disorders. Candidates with backgrounds in vascular biology, immunohistochemical analysis and mouse genetics have advantages. The projects will be focused in studying molecular mechanisms of angiogenesis in cancer and obesity. Successful candidates will apply animal genetic and disease models to study pathological angiogenesis in these tissues. These studies will most likely lead to identification of novel therapeutic targets for drug development and define new biomarkers for clinical selection of responsive patients and monitoring therapeutic efficacy of existing drugs. Our laboratory has broad international collaborations.

Qualifications
To qualify, the applicant must hold a doctor’s degree. Ph.D. degree is required and M.D. Ph.D. are preferred. Applicants who have completed their degree no more than three years before the last date for applications should be given priority. Candidates who have completed their degree earlier than this should receive equal priority if special grounds exist.

Candidates who have yet to graduate may apply for this position. In this case, exceptional accomplishments at the early career development and promising young scientists should be considered. Additionally, their public defence is scheduled to take place within three months after the application deadline, in which case verification from the Dissertation Committee must be submitted with the application.

Fluent English is required.

The positions available for 2 years (1 year contract at the time) and has the possibility to be extended. Positions should be fulfilled as soon as possible although there are no formal deadlines.

研究内容は、
１．筋ジストロフィの病態生理学。in vivo microscopy（生体顕微鏡）という技術を用いて、微小循環、カルシウム・シグナル、細胞死、オートファジーなどの関連分野でのユニークな実験系によるアプローチで、筋ジストロフィの新しいメカニズムや包括的な理論を探索しています。世界初、世界でオンリーワンの実験系を多数もっています。

２．やけど、denervation、ischemia-reperfusionなどの急性疾患における、筋萎縮のメカニズムの研究を、オートファジーを中心に、同様に、探索しています。

上記の研究は、幸いなことに、筋ジストロフィの新しい治療方法の発見に結びつき、我々の研究を皮切りに、世界各地で追試に成功し、直接的には日本の大手新聞、間接的にはCNNやBCCなど、多くのメディアにも大きく取り上げられています。

当ラボでの技術面的なアドバンテージは、生理学、分子生物学、生化学、顕微鏡学、組織形態学、オルガネラや小胞の細胞生物学、再構成系、工学的手法など、多岐にわたる方法論で、テーマにアプローチしています。どの手法も、高いレベルの技術を運用しています。今回は、Western Blotting、免疫染色などの経験のあるかた、熱意あふれる方を求めています。動物実験が必須です。具体的なプロジェクトや技術の指導は懇切丁寧に行うことが出来ます。

[研究内容]
Chishti研究室では、細胞膜タンパク質や細胞骨格と結合するタンパク質ファミリーの機能を研究しております。
細胞の極性や細胞内小胞輸送、細胞移動を制御することを解明しましたがまだまだ同タンパク質ファミリーの他のファミリーメンバーの機能の解明や、神経や好中球、上皮細胞など様々な細胞における機能など興味深いテーマを研究中です。
タンパク質の活性の制御、構造、局在の変化を生化学、分子生物学の手法で解析するところから、ノックアウトマウスを用いた疾患の治療への応用まで発展させていく予定です。これらの研究分野に興味のあるポスドク研究者を募集いたします。

Postdoctoral fellow position to study collagen expression in liver fibrosis.

I am looking for a postdoctoral associate to join my lab in studying molecular mechanism of type I collagen expression in liver fibrosis. Excessive synthesis of type I collagen is responsible for clinical manifestations of fibrosis. We have cloned a novel RNA binding protein, LARP6, which regulates translation of mRNAs encoding type I collagen and is critical for high level of collagen expression. The LARP6 dependent collagen synthesis requires filaments composed of nonmuscle myosin, these filaments develop in abundance upon activation of hepatic stellate cells. A Postdoctoral Position is available immediately at Washington State University, Center for Reproductive Biology to study non-classical steroid hormone signaling. These studies will employ the use of transgenic mouse models to assess the functional importance of non-classical steroid hormone receptors in female reproduction. The position is located in a laboratory that investigates maternal:embryo interactions and endometrial stem cell biology. The successful applicant will have a doctoral degree (PhD, DVM or MD) in the biological sciences with proven proficiency in cellular/molecular techniques (eg., siRNA knockdown, western blotting, plasmid vector construction, immunohistochemistry, protein biochemistry). [研究内容]　当研究室では、主に脊索動物を対象に、進化、発生、ゲノムの相互作用について研究をしております。このたび、脊椎動物血液細胞の多様性の進化メカニズムに関するプロジェクトを開始するにあたり、これら研究分野に興味のあるポスドク研究者を募集いたします。

[応募資格]　発生学、動物学、血液学、関連生物学分野等での博士号取得または取得予定者。特にゼブラフィッシュ、ホヤ、ナメクジウオなどの発生学的手法にご経験がある方を優遇いたします。また、進化発生学に限らず他分野からの方でも、基礎的な分子生物学の知識と意欲をお持ちであればかまいません。

　ジョージア州オーガスタにありますMedical College of Georgia・Institute of Molecular Medicine and GeneticsのRobert K. Yu研究室では、1. 神経幹細胞における複合糖質（特に糖脂質）の発現制御機構・機能的役割の解析、2. 神経幹細胞および複合糖質を用いたアルツハイマー病の発症抑制法の確立、ないし3. グリコシダーゼを用いたリソソーム病の発症抑制法の確立に従事していただける方を若干名募集しております。
　生化学、分子生物学および細胞生物学の基本的知識・手技をお持ちの方が対象ですが、当該分野での経験は問いません。給与、健康保険、休暇や退職年金など待遇はMedical College of Georgiaの規定に準じます。任期は一年となっておりますが、延長可能です。できるだけ早く着任していただける方を優先いたします。当地における研究や生活のセットアップは、日本語のわかるスタッフが責任をもってお手伝いさせていただきます。

米国ロサンジェルスのCedars-Sinai Medical Centerでポスドクならびにテクニシャンを数名募集しております。私どもの研究室 (Tone Lab)ならびにGreene Labでは、制御性T細胞の分化、転写因子Foxp3、TNFR SuperfamilyのGITR/GITR ligandの構造ならびに発現調節機構の研究を米国のペンシルバニア大学にて行ってきました。今回、ペンシルバニア大学から、 Cedars-Sinai Medical Centerへの移動に伴い、さらに 研究領域を抗体等を含むタンパク工学を利用した癌療法の開発にまで拡張いたします。それに伴い、やる気のあるポスドクならびにテクニシャンを数名募集しています。当研究室は、分子免疫の研究室ですので、分子生物、生化学、免疫、マウスの実験の経験者は歓迎されますが、これらの技術をこちらで学んで一流の研究をしたいという意気込みのある方は、これらの経験が無くとも歓迎いたします。ポスドクに関しては、こちらでJ1ビザの取得が可能ですが、テクニシャンに関しましては、米国での就業が可能な方（例えばJ２ビザ、永住権、米国民）に限らせていただきます。参考文献: Y. The Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics at the University of Minnesota is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position to investigate mechanisms of genomic instability and cancer susceptibility.

Our laboratory is part of the Masonic Comprehensive Cancer Center and focuses on elucidating functions of the Fanconi Anemia (FA) and Breast Cancer Associated (BRCA) Proteins in the context of cellular caretaker protein networks. We utilize biochemical assays in Xenopus cell-free egg extracts and human cell systems to identify novel FA/BRCA pathway players and to functionally and structurally characterize these evolutionarily young proteins. We seek enthusiastic candidates that have a solid background in molecular biology/biochemistry and enjoy being part of a highly motivated research team. A specific interest and expertise in DNA repair and replication would be ideal.
Our research team works in an open lab structure that nurtures interactions with neighboring laboratories studying fundamental questions in cancer research and the DNA damage response.
The start date is negotiable but ideal start will be Spring 2010.

A Postdoctoral position is available immediately for a highly motivated individual to study mammalian transcriptional control and signaling in both normal and cancer cells using genome-wide high throughput approaches. Postdoctoral position - Normal and neoplastic epithelial stem cells

A postdoctoral position is available in a newly established, NIH-funded laboratory in Baylor College of Medicine. The primary project involves the purification of human normal and neoplastic stem cells and the characterization of cell intrinsic program governing the balance between self-renewal and differentiation. Experience in primary epithelial cell culture and cell-based assays strongly preferred. Prior experience in molecular biology techniques and handling mouse models preferred.
