Postdoctoral Associate position is available to study epigenetic gene regulation of non-coding RNA (ncRNA) in normal skin and skin cancer melanoma. We have previously shown that malignant melanoma, caused by abnormal cell division of melanocytes in human skin, is associated with irregular patterns of microRNA (miRNA) gene expression in the constituent cells. Several putative tumor suppressors of miRNA origin have been identified in our laboratory and we will characterize these through in-vitro and in-vivo functional genomics studies. The prospective candidate will continue this study at the new facility of The Burnham Institute in Orlando, Florida.

埼玉医科大学ゲノム医学研究センター遺伝子治療部門では助教を募集しています

研究内容：当研究室では、ウイルスベクターを利用したヒト幹細胞染色体上の遺伝子修復技術の開発に関する基礎研究と、遺伝子治療と再生医療への応用へ向けた研究を行っており、最近、ヒトES細胞やiPS細胞における遺伝子発現と染色体操作の効率を大幅に改善することに成功しました（http://www.nedo.go.jp/informations/press/200826_2/200826_2.html）。これらの研究をさらに推進出来る助教を募集します。

TWO POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN CANCER RESEARCH are available immediately for highly motivated scientists to investigate the role of protein kinase signaling in human tumorigenesis, tumor metastasis and cancer cell metabolism. Our research focuses on translational and preclinical studies on human leukemias and tumors with ultimate goals to develop molecularly-targeted therapeutic strategies to treat human cancers. 私が留学時に同じフロアーでお世話になった、Dr. Le Ma がポスドクを募集しています。

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our research
group at the Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute of University of Southern
California, Los Angeles. The institute provides excellent research facilities
and a rich training environment in modern neuroscience. The successful
candidate will employ a combination of molecular, genetic, and cell
biological tools to address fundamental questions concerning axon growth,
guidance and branching in the developing nervous system. Areas of
interests include but are not limited to extracellular cues, intracellular
signaling, cytoskeleton regulation and remodeling, growth cone cell biology,
circuit development and function, and nerve injury and regeneration.
Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. with relevant publications in any of the

来る12月12日（土）、SCSNでは「スクールウォーズ」の作者、馬場信浩さんをお迎えし「若き理・医系学徒に小説作りを学ぶ」というタイトルで講演をしていただきます。

在米日本人研究者コミュニティーとしての活動をするSCSNにおいて、もはやレギュラーメンバーとなりつつある作家の馬場さん。「作家」「科学者」という一見なんの接点もない職種同士でありながらも、馬場さんはSCSNとの関わりから新たな小説を書くヒントを得ることができたそうです。世間から隔離された存在である科学者は、文系の人たちからはいろいろな偏見を持たれがちです。そこで文系の代表ともいえる「作家」の立場から「科学者」から一体何を学び取ることができたのか、を中心に講演をしていただき、どのように双方の壁を取り払えばお互いがうまく交流ができるのかを考えていきたいと思います。

今回は研究者だけではなく、スクールウォーズに感動したアラフォー世代、科学者に興味はあれどとっかかりがなく困っている文系の方達などなど、興味のある方は是非ご参加下さい。

私が非常に仲良くしているペンシルベニア大学医学部神経科学部門のアソシエイトプロフェッサーのDr. Minghong Maが日本人ポスドクを募集しています。

彼女の研究室は嗅覚について研究しており、マウスの鼻の粘膜から直接、細胞のパッチクランプをするという、世界でここのラボしかできない技術をもっています。それ以外にも分子生物学的、生化学的手法を使って様々な角度から嗅覚について研究しており、非常に魅力的なラボです。
