Postdoctoral position in Basel Switzerland
Cell type specification in the retina
A funded postdoctoral position is available to study retinal cell type and circuit specification using genetic, genomic and biochemical approaches. Our laboratory is located in the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research in Basel. We combine electrophysiological, imaging, molecular biological, genetic, and behavioral approaches to understand how neural circuits and cell types
are specified and function in normal retinas as well as in retinal degeneration. We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with very strong background in molecular biology, mouse genetics, genomics or biochemistry.
The FMI is an independent research center with 300 members pursuing fundamental research in Neurobiology, Cell Growth and Signaling, and Epigenetics. Core funding is supplied by the Novartis Research Foundation and is supplemented by grants from national and international agencies. A competitive salary and access to state-of-the-art research facilities will be provided. The FMI is situated in Basel, Switzerland, a city offering an outstanding scientific and cultural environment, and was recently voted the best institute for postdoc work in Europe.
