A postdoctoral position is open in the laboratory of a new faculty member in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The lab studies immune tolerance and immunoregulation in islet transplantation, autoimmune disorders and infectious diseases using transgenic, knockout, and lentiviral RNAi knockdown mouse models (PNAS 2006. 103: 16400; JEM 2005.202: 1387; PNAS. 2005. 102: 14735). DRI is a world leader in type 1 diabetes research, particularly in islet transplantation. Miami is one of the most dynamic and fascinating metropolitans on this planet. Minimum qualifications include a PhD in biological science, solid research experience with mouse models, excellent written/oral communication skills, and knowledge of computer databases. A postdoctoral position is available in the Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (http://www.unmc.edu/Eppley/). We use X-ray crystallography and a variety of biophysical and biochemical methods to understand the structural basis of transcriptional initiation and elongation in eukaryotes. A Ph.D. with a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, and an extensive experience in cloning, expression and purification of mammalian proteins is required.

Postdoctoral Fellow in Neurodegenerative disease

Applications are now being accepted for a postdoctoral fellow position to study the role of molecular chaperones and protein aggregation in neurodegenerative diseases. The Medical College of Georgia is a premier research university located in Augusta, Georgia.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree from an accredited university. Experience in molecular biology, protein biochemistry/biophysics and mammalian cell/tissue culture methods are required. Familiarity with mouse models and histology in the area of neurodegeneration are a plus. Competency is expected in using MS Office, Endnote, Adobe Photoshop and web-based tools. Highly motivated individuals with creative problem solving capabilities and paying attention to detail are preferred. 米Cleveland Clinic, Lerner Research Institute, 酒井lab では、NIHからのグラント取得が決定した為、再度意欲のあるポスドクを募集します。プロジェクトのテーマとしては、細胞外マトリックスとそのレセプターであるインテグリンの機能連関及びその下流で機能するシグナル分子の機能解析、また間葉系幹細胞の分化を規定する因子の解析等で、ノックアウトマウス並びにトランスジェニックマウスの胎生期、創傷治癒、誘発臓器疾患及び発癌過程をモデルとしてin vivoでの実験を進めています。また、新たなるノックアウトマウスの作製も積極的に推進しています。研究内容の詳細並びに最近の業績は、(EMBO J 23:2166-2174,2004; Genes Dev 17:926-940,2003; Nature Med 7:324-330,2001; PNAS 98:3808-3813,2001)を参照して下さい。細胞・分子生物学、実験病理学、またmolecular geneticsの経験のある方が望ましいですが、未だ２００４年にスタートしたばかりの新しいラボなので、私がこのラボを有名にしてやるんだ、という気概のある人を期待しております。
