POSTDOCTORAL POSITION

The laboratory of Dr. Fawaz George Haj at the Department of Nutrition, University of California, Davis is seeking outstanding candidates for a postdoctoral position. Applications are sought from highly motivated individuals with an M.D. or Ph.D. in Life Sciences. Experience in molecular biology, mouse models of obesity/diabetes and/or cell culture is highly desirable.

Projects involve using already available knockout mouse models and specialized cells to address the role of protein-tyrosine phosphatases and their interacting partners in insulin signaling, obesity and diabetes. Representative work: Fawaz Haj, et.al. 2002, Science, 295 (5560): 1708-11, and Fawaz Haj, et.al. 2005, Journal of Biological Chemistry, 280 (15): 15038-46. State-of-the-art facilities are available on Campus, with possibility of collaboration with laboratories in Boston and the Max Planck Institute (Germany).
