Post-doctoral Position in Structural Virology
at SUNY Upstate Medical University,
Syracuse, NY, USA
A NIH-sponsored postdoctoral post-doctoral position is available immediately
to study the mechanisms of virus P22 DNA injection in the Gram-negative
bacterium Salmonella. The goal of this study is to characterize the putative
'DNA translocon' used by the virus to inject its genome across the host cell
wall.
The laboratory is location in a newly renovated floor of SUNY Upstate
Medical University, in Syracuse, NY. The lab is fully equipped with the
state-of the art equipment for X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM single
particle reconstruction and biochemical/biophysical analysis of
macromolecules in solution (for more info see our website for more info:
http://www.cingolandesign.com/cingolanilab.html).
In addition, we have monthly access to high intense X-ray beam-lines at
Brookhaven National Laboratory and CHESS.
Our current research team consists of US and international researchers,
including post-docs, Ph. students, and undergraduates. The environment in
the lab is friendly and supportive. We work as a team to tackle difficult
biological problems.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree, an established publication record
with demonstrated expertise in structural biology, and interest in
structural virology. Applicants with same knowledge of X-ray crystallography
will be favored.
SUNY offers a comprehensive benefit package for postdoctoral research
associates.
